PNF with Kim Gatewood: This three hour course for physical and occupational therapists will teach principles of facilitation, normal movement patterns, and specific PNF techniques focusing on improving manual skills to achieve desired patient outcomes. Lab experiences will apply this approach to common movement dysfunctions. It will cover applications for trunk, upper and lower quarters as well as functional activities. Techniques for improving both mobility and stability will be presented. Dr. David Shprecher: Attendees will learn about the different types of telemedicine currently in use for Parkinson disease, including clinic to clinic and virtual house call, (as well as the history and rationale behind their use. They will gain an appreciation of the experience with, and key learnings from EntireCare’s movement disorders telemedicine clinics thus far. Unique challenges to PD management will be covered, including patient/clinician bias against treatment, medication side effects, and motor/non-motor symptoms that may not respond to levodopa.
