Medical school curriculums universally have little relative time spent on musculoskeletal systems training when compared to the fact that primary care providers see up to 30% of complaints from that sphere in practice. Increasingly, Nurse Practitioners are taking on the role of primary care provider and even less time is spent on pediatric orthopedics in their training programs. Referral thresholds among different PCPs are variable and show that the lack of education even on bread and butter common variant cases is stark. This program on musculoskeletal systems also proves beneficial to Physical Therapists. The program is now in its 3rd year and the feedback we have received about the program content has been positive. Pre to post-test scores have been significant.
