This course will enhance the student’s knowledge and skill level in the evidence-based management of the pediatric patient with musculoskeletal conditions that impact growth and development and restrict participation. Evidence-based examination, medical screening, use of outcome measures, and diagnostic testing for patients with both congenital and acquired musculoskeletal pathology will be discussed. Various treatment approaches and techniques are reviewed with an emphasis on therapeutic exercise, dosing and exercise prescription, handling and positioning, and age-appropriate manual therapy. A two-day onsite laboratory session is included to provide hands-on demonstration and practice of examination skills and selected interventions on pediatric patients.
