This course is for anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of the role of the Psoas Major. Scientific research is gradually starting to explore the multiple functions of this muscle in regards to stabilization of the trunk and hip. Clinical experience affirms we need to move beyond the negative thoughts of the Psoas as a “problem muscle” that primarily needs to be stretched and explore its other roles. Ann Crammond will use her expertise as a Franklin Method Educator and Anatomy in 3 Dimensions faculty to guide us through relevant anatomy and imagery of the region. Carrie Lamb will discuss recent research findings and fascial connections in the lumbopelvic region. Together they will apply this knowledge to both the Clinical and Pilates environment. Participants will have the opportunity to experience these ideas in action using a variety of equipment including reformers, CoreAlign, and small mat props.
