The Top Down Bottom Up course is a 10.5 hour continuing education course designed for health care practitioners interested in seeking advanced knowledge and understanding of lower extremity biomechanics, assessment and intervention strategies, as well as utilization of functional foot mapping to restore function, eliminate pain and normalize gait for musculoskeletal patients. This course involves connecting the relationship of the kinetic chain as well as the anatomy and biomechanics of the lower quarter. Participants will leave with a better understanding of the fascial anatomy system, how to assess the lower quarter through postural, and dynamic orthopedic testing, and how to properly identify and treat the most common lower quarter dysfunctions. We will discuss and demonstrate corrective exercise strategies that will influence movement patterns and improve patient’s motor function. During day 2, the participants will also progress their understanding of how to assess gait mechanics, both identifying normal gait parameters as well as aberrant patterns in the human gait cycle via case studies and use of foot mapping. Once evaluated, participants will learn specific skill training to improve the patients’ gait cycle. This will be an invaluable tool that will deepen their understanding of how the foot contacts the ground and its resultant reactions in the lower extremity.
