Discover the role of neural input as it relates to movement and pain. This course will assist you in working with clients that are experiencing pain and how fear that results from pain can affect movement. Instruction will cover the spectrum from those suffering at an intense level to those that are able to function at a higher level. Techniques to soothe the nervous system as a “way in” will be taught for those clients who are afflicted with an overactive sympathetic response and Pilates progressions will be discussed. We will also explore how the different pieces of equipment can impact the body in either an assistive, supportive way or a resistive, challenging way.
