The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is as dense as it is important. But for any healthcare provider handling private personal health information, which you promised to protect as part of the Health Information Privacy Rule, there are a few things you must know. This training session is designed to provide therapists with the nuts and bolts about the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), particularly as it relates to patient privacy. Strict guidelines for maintaining privacy, confidentiality, and security of health information are also part of HIPAA legislation and are reviewed. The training provides an in-depth review of the components of the HIPAA right of access and ways in which it enables individuals to be more involved in their own care. The module provides helpful suggestions about how therapists can successfully integrate aspects of the HIPAA access into their daily practice.
