Low vision in the elderly impacts the ability to perform basic activities of daily living, functional mobility, self-feeding, socialization, communication and leisure activities. This seminar will provide an overview of low vision rehabilitation services including the anatomy of the eye, diagnoses and disease processes affecting the eye and definitions of key terminology. Evaluation tools will be discussed as well as skilled interventions, compensatory and adaptive strategies and problem solving techniques. Case examples will be utilized to apply knowledge to actual practice. Course content is appropriate for all practice venues including long-term care, home care, outpatient and inpatient rehab.
