Creating Assistive Technology Solutions in Minutes – A Make and Take Workshop Everyone is born to create, discover, make, and build solutions for everyday challenges. Hundreds of new tools, specialty tapes, fasteners and plastics have emerged that enables all individuals become AT makers without the need for power tools, glue or nails. This "hands-on" interactive workshop introduces participants to new methods, material, tools and resources for making hundreds of solutions in minutes including: hands free solutions for eating, drinking, painting, drawing, reading, watching, recording, writing; solutions for communicating and using a cellphone; low cost mounting solutions for wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches; solutions for holding a pen, marker, paint brush, stylus, drum sticks, tooth brush, hair brush, garden rake, phone; low cost AAC solutions; solutions for blindness, low vision, deaf and hard of hearing; solutions for intellectual disabilities and executive function impairments; solutions for reaching and carrying objects and so much more. Participants will learn new innovative way to use InstaMorph, Coroplast, Corner Guard, Expanded PVC, Loc-Line, Transparency Film, and 10 specialty tapes to make hundreds of solutions in minutes. Each participant will make five different assistive technology solutions to take home with them. Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to: 1. Identify at least 10 different materials that can be used to create hundreds of AT devices in minutes 2. Identify at least 30 different AT devices that can be made in five minutes or less 3. Make five different multiuse AT devices for maximizing independence at home, school, work and play.
