This day of lecture stimulates and challenges the mind and opens your professional horizon to the clinical application of Medical Massage. The goal is to build a mental vision of the Medical Massage Concept based on the latest scientific data. Saturday: Hands-on Training in Basic Medical Massage Techniques. This hands-on training will optimize basic Medical Massage skills to be clinically efficient for application of corresponding protocols. It is a delight to learn the collection of 60 clinical massage techniques gathered by SOMI throughout entire Western School of Massage Therapy. We discuss their step by step application, indications and contraindications and effect on the soft tissues. We will introduce such unique and frequently unknown techniques as effleurage with unequally distributed pressure, double scrolling kneading, Sarkisov-Sirasini’s Friction, etc. Sunday: Medical Massage Protocol for Chronic Headaches. Today all the pieces of the puzzle fall into place. Using hands-on training we establish a logical understanding of the scientifically based pattern of soft tissue rehabilitation using the Medical Massage Concept. The second you experience the “aha” moment you will be able to use the same pattern over and over to formulate Medical Massage Protocols for more than 70 of America’s most common somatic disorders through SOMI’s publications, support and the Video Library. Hands-on training for Chronic Headaches will focus on the origin of headaches, their major differences and principles of evaluation of patients with various types of headaches and step by step treatment protocol individually customized to each patient. The first of the 4-hour classes “How to Evaluate Your Clients Condition” should be taken as soon as you can. It is usually held in the morning the Thursday prior to the weekend seminar. You learn how to track the pain so you’re treating the actual source of the innervation. You must have taken one 3-day seminar plus any additional hands-on class.   The second of the 4-hour required classes for CMMP is “Ask, Show & Tell” so YOU ask the questions and Dr. Ross will Show & Tell you the answers. This class is usually held in the afternoon of the Thursday prior to the seminar. You can take this class on the same weekend that will fulfill your final requirements for CMMP training.
