Pain in multiple sclerosis (MS) is a very common symptom, but it is common to see variations in the types of pain sensations and symptomology. The goal of this CEU course is to examine the occurrence of pain in MS patients, to identify the pain conditions and the relationship to important demographic variables, and to determine its impact on quality of life. Also discussed in this course is the occurrence of central pain (CP) and its characteristics. Central pain is often overlooked in patients with multiple sclerosis, as it can be hard to identify and discriminate from other types of pain, particularly in those with co-existing pain conditions. This study analyzed a group of patients with an average age of 37 years, who answered questions regarding different types of pain and painful sensations.
