This seminar offers tools and treatment strategies for working with patients with lower level skills. It provides and in depth review of treatment ideas, cognitive strategies to integrate into patient care, ways to manage patient refusals, and documentation principles for patients with lower level skills. The intention of Physical Therapy is to increase an individual’s ability to live as independently as possible in the community while engaging in meaningful and productive life roles. By attending this course, PTs will gain a better understanding of how to create an excellent plan of care for their patients with lower level skills. The purpose of Working with Patients with Lower Level Skills is to: describe Physical Therapy treatment ideas for patients with lower level skills; identify ways to manage patient refusals; and explain guiding documentation principles for patients with lower level skills. This webinar will introduce strategies for therapeutic interventions for patients with lower level skills. Using examples, Physical Therapists will learn how to approach treatment sessions with this client population. This training will also review the foundations of resident advocacy and how to approach a resident that refuses treatment. Finally, the training will instruct the audience to document using language and terminology that reflect the technical skill of Physical Therapists.
