Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services are aligning quality measurements across post-acute care assessments to meet the provisions of the Improving Medicare Acute Care Transformation (IMPACT) Act of 2014. This will help to improve data collection, quality measurements, outcome comparisons, and data exchange. Exciting? Sure? So what does this mean for us as clinicians? All we really want is to just make a difference with our patients so they can get back to their lives, right? So how do we get to keep doing that, have awesome outcomes, AND provide quality care? As we move into a new era of reimbursement, performance, and functional outcomes, therapists will play a major role in a patient's recovery and we will play a crucial role in getting them back to their prior level of function. Section GG will play a major part in navigating where we will have our attention on in making clinical decisions and determine the deficits that we will impact. This course will focus on capturing an accurate picture of our patient's needs, establishing a plan specific to their deficits, documenting medical necessity, and developing effective treatment plans to maximize functional outcomes.
