Credit Description:

This prerecorded presentation examines the need and process for identifying brain injury in the substance abuse population. It asks the question of a cause-and-effect relationship between those with brain injury and those who abuse substances. Special attention is paid to the Opioid epidemic through the data presented. It also offers a possible screening tool (HELPS) which could be easily implemented in various settings to assist in determining situations where there is an overlap of substance abuse and brain injury.
