This training and education program provides an introduction to traumatic brain injury prevention, assessment and diagnoses, treatment and rehabilitation. It is designed for the non-clinical audience and will cover the following topics: TBI prevalence, common causes of TBI, TBI signs and symptoms, immediate treatment and rehabilitation, TBI Prevention, ending with resources for more help. This presentation uses evidence-based research to suggest the influence of mental health conditions on a concussion patient during their assessment and treatment phases. It will examine the most common mental health conditions which arise post-injury, specifically among athletes. This presentation will define bilingualism. Then it will examine patterns of language loss and recovery following a brain injury. It will provide tools for assessment and interventions for patients/survivors/clients and give guidance on future directions for them.
