Physical Therapist will benefit from this course because the impact and the use of decompressive knee orthosis is a common noninvasive medical approach to treat knee osteoarthritis. Understanding the difference between medial and lateral knee osteoarthritis and the biomechanical impact on gait is important when selecting decompressive knee orthosis. Biomechanical principles associated with various orthosis will be discussed. Clinical guidelines will be examined based on the various stages of knee osteoarthritis. By analyzing the different decompressive knee orthosis Physical Therapist can decide from current research how decompressive knee orthosis can have a positive impact on patient reported and performance-based outcome measures.
