In this session, we will focus on young adults who have experienced traumatic brain injury. We will discuss injury mechanism and occurrence, symptomatology, and expected recovery timelines and outcomes in both acute and chronic stages of injury. We will then discuss how this information is affected by the unique needs of this population, including a lack of legally mandated support, the transitions these individuals may be experiencing, and the demands of both vocational and academic settings. In this session, we will focus on acquired brain injuries experienced in early childhood, by school-aged children, and by adolescents.
