Physical therapy can prevent functional impairments and improve the quality of life of patients after hospital discharge. The goals of this CEU course are to assess the evidence available regarding the effect of early mobilization on critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU), summarize the considerations for patient safety during early mobilization, and identify attitudes and perceived barriers to its application.
