A large segment of the population within a long-term care facility experience dementia of some type. With the projected increase in dementia of all types, it is important for all staff who interact with residents to understand disease processes and follow the latest research and guideline for both care and prevention. This educational activity explores risk factors for dementia, both modifiable and non-modifiable, various types of dementia as well as symptoms and prognosis.
