The US is in the midst of a crisis: the epidemic of opioid addiction and overdose. This crisis is an unintended consequence of a national effort to help individuals control their pain. Understanding and addressing chronic pain before it is treated pharmacologically may be an important first step in addressing opioid misuse. This course will address the scope of opioid misuse as well as the steps that Physical Therapists can take to identify and address addiction and pain.
