Around one-fourth of women and fourteen percent of men have experienced a serious form of domestic violence with their partner. People who experience domestic violence will seek healthcare just like anyone else. This points out the need for providers to recognize, respond to, and manage resources around domestic violence to provide patient-centered care. There are specific signs of partner violence that physical therapists and other rehabilitation professionals may notice and intervene on. This course will discuss statistics of domestic violence in the United States, how providers can identify victims, and what is required of providers in responding to domestic violence cases.
