In this 2-hour course, we will discuss Progressive Precision Loading, a treatment intervention that applies incrementally increasing loads to injured tissues throughout various stages of healing with the primary objective of optimizing patient outcomes. This course is designed specifically for physical therapists, serving as a comprehensive guide to exercise prescription using unloading. Participants will gain insight into safety screening tools, contraindications, and precautions in various patient populations. It will incorporate the review of evidence surrounding unloading and traction in different patient populations. The specific focus will be on how to calculate the appropriate exercise load for different types of injuries including lumbar spine, cervical spine, and lower extremity joints. Case studies from actual in-clinic patients will be discussed to offer insight into practical applications. The specific equipment used will be the Vigor Therapy Equipment system and Total Gym that is found in the HonorHealth outpatient therapy department across most clinics. Participants will have a detailed review of using and managing the unloader system for the lumbar spine, cervical spine, and lower extremity patients. The goal will be to improve confidence in the practitioner for immediate implementation at the end of the course. (This course will be offered to HonorHealth Outpatient Therapists with an online TEAMS interoffice system and recorded for future self/home study)
