This course will provide occupational and physical therapy providers with an introduction to evidenced based practice relating to infant treatment and handling. Course objectives will include: (1) introduce typical and atypical acquisition of the developmental milestones, (2) describe common health conditions that impact typical development, (3) introduce facilitation of typical motor patterns and therapeutic handling through the developmental sequence, (4) provide state regulation strategies to utilize with infants, and (5) reviewing sensory differences commonly seen in infants with prolonged hospitalizations. These objectives will be met through didactic content, case reviews, and utilization of kinesthetic learning through lab practice and patient demonstrations.
