Credit Description:

COVID-19 took us through a national community health crisis that affected the world on multiple levels. It affected the strong and the weak equally hard with devastating outcomes. This session discusses the impact this health crisis had on our frailest community members living with wounds. It also visits pressure injury risk across the continuum in patients who were not at risk until becoming ill with COVID-19. It is imperative that we learn from this crisis and learn how to prevent skin breakdown and protect patients who have been affected by such a devastating illness. Current tools with consistent use and new uses will be discussed to bring the multidisciplinary teams together for quality patient care in scenarios that were new to all of us. The strategies addressed in this session will help individuals go back to their clients and focus on continued quality improvement plans.
