This course will present lectures and laboratory sessions addressing core burn therapist competencies as identified by the ABA Burn Rehabilitation Therapist Competency Tool (BRTCT-2) (Parry et al., 2017). The BRTCT-2 provides a structure for burn-specific competency training as recommended by the ABA Verification Criteria (7.7). Didactic sessions will review current practices relevant to burn therapists. Breakout segments will provide small group discussion and hands-on experience with skills identified as necessary to the practice of burn therapy. After this course, participants will have an improved understanding and skill set in key burn therapy practice domains.
