Therapists often underestimate their impact on wound prevention. This basic course reviews the types of wounds, phases of wound healing, and some basic terminology so that the therapist will be able to direct their care in a comprehensive person-centered manner to not only assist with wound healing but to apply their skills to wound prevention. Included in this discussion are standardized ways to measure and document skin tears, pressure ulcers, diabetic, venous, and arterial wounds. Client programs as they relate wound care are discussed.
