Course Description: The MSK-DN course is a hybrid 45-hour program consisting of both 3-day onsite course (21 hours) and google classroom asynchronous (24 hours) course formats. MSK-DN is designed to develop and reinforce the use of specific examination and treatment skills that facilitate the reduction of pain and dysfunction in patients with neuromusculoskeletal disorders. It covers the definition, anatomy and pathophysiology of neuromusculoskeletal pain, and dry needling (DN) neurophysiology. It also covers the history and theory of dry needling including evidence-based applications through research studies. Safety applications, precautions, contraindications and clean needle technique application including dry needling dosages will be discussed. It also covers the use of DN techniques in trigger points, myofascial pain syndromes and specialized indications in musculoskeletal injuries and disorders including musculotendinous, teno-periosteal, perineural and ligamentous applications. Instruction focuses on the use of dry needling (DN) techniques using solid filament needles directed at select trigger points and soft tissue impairments in the extremities and spine.
