For the clinician looking to dive deeper into the complicated world of concussion and is looking for a streamlined approach with ways to answer the more complicated questions. "Visuo-Vestibular Rehabilitation for Concussion / mTBI" will be building from the brain body integration (primitive reflex) groundwork. It is expected participants will have completed the Phoenix Concussion Recovery Integrative Concussion Management course prior to diving into advanced practice. This course will dive right into an overview of current concepts in vision and vestibular rehabilitation for concussion / mTBI following a framework provided by the APTA CPG Domains published in 2020. Within this framework, attendees will explore what vision really is, how it works, and how we can tap into vision to build a sturdy foundation for functional healing from a brain injury. This course is advanced practice and It is expected viewers have foundational knowledge in vestibular rehabilitation (VRT) prior to initiating this course, if not, recommendations will be provided to assist you with building the necessary background. In this course, attendees will explore advanced practice and modifications to VRT for the central involvement of concussive injuries. Screening tools will be provided for including the “VOMS+” for vision and vestibular screening with videos and lab format virtually to develop attendees' skillsets for both vision and vestibular screening as well as therapeutic interventions. A key missing piece in concussion courses is HOW do we intervene once we know what the driver is? Attendees will receive that information in this course and are expected to be able to implement the ZINC protocol effectively by completion. A review of the literature will be provided in the final summary for attendees to put the pieces together to allow for translation for knowledge to the clinic on Monday as an emerging concussion expert.
