The Certificate program is the foundation of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy as a specialty practice. The expected outcome is a change in clinical behavior as Physical Therapists gain knowledge in evidence-based patient management and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions using direction-specific exercise and OMPT procedures (mobilization/manipulation). The core of program is musculoskeletal differential diagnosis using a combination of selective tissue and movement-based examination. Physical Therapists will learn to appreciate and integrate current Clinical Practice Guidelines for patient care. Certified clinicians will be able to communicate effectively with medical providers as well as educate their patients on prognosis and appropriate medical care. The program will consist of skills and knowledge to implement orthopedic manual physical therapy (joint mobilization and high velocity manipulation) for cervical, thoracic, lumbosacral, sacroiliac and peripheral joints problem, also with designing appropriate exercise for most common musculoskeletal conditions. The COMPT program consists of four (4) course modules culminating in a certificate examination.
