This introductory course outlines the history of dry needling, reviews current evidence and safety standards including OSHA blood borne pathogens training, and emphasizes hands-on practice of safe dry needling techniques to treat common areas of dysfunction using the insertion of fine filament needles into muscular trigger points. Lumbar, cervical, lower quarter, and upper quarter muscles will be included for evaluation procedures, anatomy review with safety precautions/contraindications, and lab practice of dry needling techniques. This blended course will include 9 hours of online course content as an introduction to dry needling, review of anatomy and precautions, and research presentation, and two 9 hour days of in-person content with emphasis on lab practice and application. Registrants must be a licensed physical therapist, osteopath, physician, or acupuncturist in their respective state within the U.S.
