he MOOC “Analysis and retraining of upper limb function after stroke” has been run twice, and will continue to run annually. It is run by the StrokeEd Collaboration, an Australian educational provider. The content focuses on evidence-based analysis and retraining of the upper limb after stroke. The MOOC involves approximately 3 hours per week of self-paced online tasks and a weekly interactive activity on Facebook. There are two live online Question and Answer sessions with the presenters, one mid way through the MOOC and one at the end of the MOOC. Our target audience is occupational therapists and physiotherapists, but anyone involved in stroke rehabilitation is welcome to register for the MOOC. The content is housed on the Learning Management system, Learndash. The text-based content is in English language but there is a Translation Add-in on the website that can be used to translate content using Google Translate. The recorded content, consisting of lectures, discussions and analysis and therapy sessions with stroke survivors is presented in English language with subtitles provided in Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Portugese and French. All the recorded content is housed on Youtube which enables translation into other languages using the closed captions function within Youtube. The UL MOOC has a focus on the implementation of evidence-based interventions that involve low cost, readily available equipment and can be achieved in low resource settings. A comprehensive report on the 2024 UL MOOC is attached and available here https://strokeed.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Report-on-the-UL-MOOC-Analysis-and-retraining-of-upper-limb-function-after-Stroke_June-2024.pdf. The report on the 2025 UL MOOC is not yet finalised but the MOOC ran very successfully with a 42% completion rate which is high for MOOCs as they often have a 10 to 20% completion rate. Comments from participants made it evident that the MOOC was having a significant impact on the participants' analysis of UL movement problems and their knowledge and ability to implement evidence-based interventions after stroke.
