Course Description
PhotoBioModulation (PBM), formerly low-level laser therapy, is the application of light for bio-stimulation of tissue. This Clinical Electrophysiology course will review the cellular mechanisms and optimal dosimetry parameters for pain management, edema and inflammation reduction, tissue healing, and muscle performance. Criteria to apply PBM will follow current evidence-based Clinical Practice Guidelines for effective clinical decision-making and optimal patient outcomes.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
1.Explain the mechanisms of action for PBM in pain management, edema and
inflammation reduction, tissue healing, and muscle performance
2.Identify indications, contraindications, and warnings of PBM
3.Evaluate and select appropriate parameters associated with optimal dose for PBM
4.Integrate PBM into the patient’s plan-of-care according to the most current
Clinical Practice Guidelines
5.Assess various reimbursement avenues for PBM
Audience and Educational Level
This intermediate level course is directly related to the practice of physical therapy and is designed to increase or enhance knowledge/skills of current standards in physical therapy practice.
Method of Instruction and Assessment of Learning
This one-hour course will be presented over various dates and times as a live webinar, pre-recorded webinar, or an in- person format. The Q & A discussion and Post-Test will help assess learning and are not an indication of competence on the part of the participant.
Satisfactory Course Completion
All attendees must pre-register for the course with their name, professional credentials ,state licensure number, and e-mail address. Confirmed registrants must attend the full hour and verify attendance by signing the attendance record (in person) or enter their e-mail address in the chat feature at the beginning of the webinar. A course certificate will be issued following attendance and completion of the course evaluation and post-test. A passing score of 80% is required to receive continuing education credit. All attendance records will be maintained for 10 years from the date of the course.

In the unlikely event the course is cancelled, CareWear will offer the opportunity to attend this course in a pre-recorded webinar or at a future in-person or live webinar.
